There are two large universities in the Dayton area. The University of Dayton was founded in 1850 and is a private, Catholic school and has the only American Bar Association-approved law school in the area. Wright State University was founded in 1967 as a public school and has the only medical school in the Miami Valley. Sinclair Community College has a wide variety of two-year associate programs and is a very affordable commuter school in the area. Kettering College of Medical Arts is associated with Kettering Medical Center and offers a variety of healthcare educational pursuits.
