Proud to Be an American on Election Day: Celebrating Our Freedoms and Unity

This morning, as I drove through Bath Township and Fairborn to get my truck bed cover adjusted, I was reminded of something powerful. Passing the crowded parking lot at the government center, filled with neighbors lined up to vote, I felt a surge of pride in being part of a country where each voice matters. The energy was palpable; it was Election Day in the United States, and all across our communities, Americans were casting their votes, a testament to the freedoms we sometimes take for granted.

Driving down I-675, heading toward Centerville, I passed by a couple of bustling polling places. The parking lot at The Point Church was packed, full of people who had taken the time out of their day to make their voices heard. Just a little further down the road, Centerville Community Church was also filled with voters. Young and old, people were coming together, doing their part to shape our nation's future.

After traveling past the voting locations, I arrived at my destination, Solar Shade Truck & Car Paradise on Route 73 in Warren County, to have my truck bed cover adjusted. As I sat waiting for the repair to be completed, I looked out the window and saw the US Flag waving. I took a moment to reflect on the blessings of being an American. We are fortunate to live in a country where freedom, democracy, and opportunity are more than just words—they’re rights that we exercise daily. And today, seeing so many voters turn out at the polls, those freedoms felt especially meaningful.

It’s moments like this that remind us of the resilience and strength that define us as Americans. Yes, we have our share of issues to work through, and yes, we might sometimes feel divided. But on this day, all across the country, people are showing up for a shared purpose: to express their wishes for a better, brighter future. We have the incredible gift of living in a nation where we can make our voices heard without fear, thanks to the vision and courage of those who came before us.

Our founders, whose leadership and commitment forged the United States Constitution, had a vision for a country where liberty, justice, and unity could thrive. It’s their vision that we honor every time we walk into that voting booth, every time we come together for something bigger than ourselves. And for this, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude—not only to our founders but also to those who defend our freedoms today. Our veterans and active-duty military are the true heroes, protecting our rights and interests around the world. Their dedication is the reason we can exercise these freedoms freely. To all of them: thank you for your courage, your sacrifices, and your service. You embody the best of what it means to be American.

Despite the divisiveness we sometimes see, this Election Day has renewed my hope. I believe that together we can overcome our challenges, make needed corrections, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one nation. I am, and will always be, proud to be an American.
