As the government shutdown continues, many local families are feeling the strain — especially with the holidays approaching and everyday costs on the rise. Food insecurity is a real challenge for some of our neighbors right now, but thankfully, our community’s heart is shining through once again.

We’ve been so inspired by the kindness and generosity of local restaurants who are stepping up to make a difference — offering free meals and support to those affected by the shutdown. These small acts of compassion remind us what community is all about.

🍳 The Blue Berry Café – Bellbrook

Known for its famous pancakes and welcoming atmosphere, The Blue Berry Café is once again showing what it means to care for others. Every Wednesday, they’re offering free meals for individuals and families in need. Whether you’ve been furloughed, are missing paychecks, or simply need a little help right now, their doors (and hearts) are open.

🍝 Giovanni’s – Fairborn

A long-time local favorite, Giovanni’s is well-known for its delicious Italian food — and its generous spirit. Each Thursday, the restaurant will be providing free meals to anyone impacted by the government shutdown. Giovanni’s has always been a place where friends and families gather, and now they’re extending that same hospitality to those who need it most.

🍔 The Last Queen – Enon

This cozy British pub in Enon has become a community hub — and now, they’re using their kitchen to give back. The Last Queen will be offering free take-away meals from 4–6 p.m. every Monday for anyone in need. No questions asked, just compassion and comfort food made with care.
