Bellbrook, Ohio, is a charming town twenty miles southeast of Dayton, and a little over an hour away from two more large Ohio metropolitan areas. There are parks, supermarkets, and local businesses nearby. In 10 minutes, you can hop on the I-675 and head toward Dayton. If you need to catch a flight, Dayton International Airport is a 30-minute drive from Bellbrook.
Bellbrook is technically a suburb of Dayton, and central Dayton is a mere 20 minutes away, so many residents make the commute for jobs, nightlife, schools, or culture. But one certainly does not have to go that far for employment. Bellbrook has plenty of job opportunities with the school district, small businesses, real estate, and county services. Medical professionals can find prospects at the Miami Valley Hospital South Campus.
Less than an hour's drive going southwest, and you'll find yourself in Cincinnati. While some might find this too long of a commute, it is possible. And it's definitely close enough for a weekend trip to see a ball game, the theater, or a show.

3. Schools
Highview Terrace is served by the Bellbrook School District. Children attend Stephen Bell Elementary, Bell Creek Intermediate, Bellbrook Middle School, and then Beavercreek High School. These schools are among the most highly rated in the state and have a very high graduation rate.
You’ll need to drive toward Dayton or to the north for private schools, which is not that far of a drive.
The University of Dayton campus is a 20-minute drive and offers numerous degrees in Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education & Health Sciences, and Engineering.
4. Shopping and Dining
Highview Terrace is a rural oasis in the middle of the community. Just south of the neighborhood is Dot's Market, a local, family-owned supermarket. Downtown is just to the south as well. You'll find the Bellbrook Farmer's Market in the summer. The city has put a lot of work into making downtown a destination, and there are several restaurants and shops.
Downtown, you'll find The Blue Berry Café with breakfast and brunch specialties. McIntosh's Pub & Grub is a local favorite for burgers, fries, chicken wings, and pizzas. Dorothy Lane Market is an alternative specialty food/grocery store. Don't miss Bill's Donut Shop, where you can get donuts, Danishes, and desserts 24 hours a day.
Wilmington Pike is to the west and is filled with department and grocery stores such as Cabela's, Kroger, Costco, Target, Home Depot, and more. There are many restaurants and fast-food establishments for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For a more upscale but casual dining experience, check out Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant. In addition to an extensive wine-tasting room, you can dine in or carry out a wide array of menu items, including pasta, risotto, seafood, surf & turf, soups, steaks, salads, and more. There's a lighter menu and lunch-sized entrees as well.
Travel north and west to other suburbs of Dayton for endless shopping and dining opportunities. They are all very close.
5. Outdoor Recreation
Highview Terrace homes are known for their spacious lots and lush landscaping, backing up to woods and streams. Bellbrook has many parks and other opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Between Wilmington Pike and Highview Terrace neighborhoods is Five Seasons Sports Club, where you will find tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, fitness equipment, a kids club, and social events.
Bellbrook Golf Park is east of downtown. In addition to a driving range, there are two putting greens for practice. The Sugar Valley Golf Club is a few miles past the high school off of Upper Bellbrook Road. In addition to an award-winning par 71 course, there is a clubhouse for special events and a restaurant.
There are several parks close to Highview Terrace, including:
- Bellbrook Park is where the community gathers for festivals and social gatherings, such as the Sugar Maple Festival and the Lion's Club Festival.
- Sackett-Wright Park has athletic fields, picnic shelters, and a drinking fountain.
- Washington Mill Park is where kids play lacrosse and soccer games. There are also picnic shelters.
- Magee Park has a picnic shelter, playground equipment, and a t-ball field.
- Sugarcreek Metropark is a little further south but well worth the extra few minute's drive. Here you will find hiking trails, prairies, and woodlands. Dip your toes into Sugar Creek and hike the Osage Orange Tunnel.
Little Miami River is in the east part of the town. Bellbrook Canoe Rental rents boats for you to paddle up and down the river. The river is also popular with tubers and anglers.
