Do you have a child who is gifted or who has special needs? How do you determine which is the right school district in which your child will learn, grow, and thrive? In the past, the Ohio Department of Education rated school districts on a variety of performance parameters, but the way in which they reported the parameters and rated the school districts was ambiguous and difficult to interpret.
In 2013, the state unveiled a new reporting system that will make it easier for parents to see the progress in a particular school district in the areas of educating students. How much are the students learning every year? It also evaluates the learning progress of gifted students and students with disabilities. By assigning a letter grade to these parameters, it will be a whole lot easier for parents to compare districts to see which district overall would be the best fit for their children's educational needs.
